Project Description

This priority bridge replacement project is in the preliminary design phase and includes replacement of the South Moonlight Road Bridge over I-35 and realignment of 183rd Street at I-35 in Johnson County. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.

Replacement of the existing bridge is necessary due to the end of its useful design life. Additional benefits of the project are reducing future maintenance needs, enhancing safety and allowing connectivity from South Moonlight Road to a nearby paved shared-use path to carry bicyclists and pedestrians over the bridge.
