The DRE Program is a nationally accredited training program to address drug-impaired driving. The DRE curriculum equips certified law enforcement officers to identify drivers under the influence of drugs other than alcohol. 

Officers who complete this training will be qualified to identify drug-related vs. medical impairment, determine the category of drugs causing impairment, and provide expert testimony in court. 

DRE Training is offered annually, and candidates must apply for acceptance into the program on the prescribed application. 

Training Structure

  • Pre-School: 2 days to assess candidate qualifications. 
  • Main School: 7 days of intensive training. 
  • Certification Phase: Demonstrate proficiency in drug evaluations. 

Eligibility

Full-time sworn police officers who have completed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) training.
