Last week, the Kansas Department of Transportation selected a contractor for the East Kellogg improvement project from K-96 to 159th Street in Wichita and Andover. KDOT leadership has since conducted a significant review of our procurement process and found that aspects of the evaluation process leading to the East Kellogg selection needed additional scrutiny to proceed with the state’s first progressive-design-build project. Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to start a new procurement for the contract for the East Kellogg project. The East Kellogg project will still move forward with a new and improved procurement process designed to be as objective and efficient as possible.

KDOT’s goal is always to build infrastructure in a way that benefits Kansas residents, workers, and businesses. By conducting a top-to-bottom review and making these adjustments, we will ensure our procurement process accomplishes that goal.
