Field survey set for bridge improvement on K-1 in Comanche County

Post Date:04/07/2022

A field survey will begin around Monday, April 11, for proposed improvement to the Salt Fork Arkansas River bridge on K-1 in Comanche County.

The proposed project, by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), is 7.43 miles north of the Oklahoma/Kansas state line – near Buttermilk. The approximate length of the survey is 2,000 feet, and the survey will be based on the existing alignment.

This field survey, to gather information needed for the detailed design of the proposed improvement, is estimated to be completed by May 5.

A member of the survey crew first will contact property owners and/or tenants for permission to enter private property if needed. Survey activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor.

Michael Selley, P.S., Survey Manager, KDOT, Bureau of Right of Way, will be in charge of this survey.
