A bridge repair project on the K-16 bridge spanning Mill Creek west of Onaga is scheduled to begin Monday, July 12, weather permitting. The project will include removal of the current silica fume overlay, patching and asphalt overlay.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the project and controlled by a traffic signal. Speed will be reduced to 35 mph through the work zone, which will be marked by barricades, signs and cones. Drivers should plan for delays of up to 10 minutes.
Work will take place Monday through Friday, and Saturday if needed, during daylight hours, and is expected to be completed by late August.
Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc., of Topeka is the contractor on the $119,000 project.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive.org or call 5-1-1.
