Bret Wildfong retiring after 28 years with KDOT

Bret Wildfong, Equipment Operator Specialist in Beloit, will be retiring after more than 28 years of dedicated service with the Kansas Department of Transportation. His last day in his KDOT job is March 5.

Wildfong, from Culver, spent his entire KDOT career in Beloit, beginning in 1992 as an Equipment Operator Trainee and working his way up to Equipment Operator Specialist in 2018. Wildfong says he helps the supervisor to oversee the crew, enjoys serving as an instructor of the four-day basic core training of new hires, and is grateful to have worked with such a great group of guys.

After his retirement from KDOT, Wildfong plans to spend time hunting and fishing, he also plans to help his son guide pheasant hunts. He looks forward to spending more time with his grandkids and watching them grow.

Bret and his wife, Sarah, live in Beloit. They have two sons and one daughter, three grandchildren, and five “grand-dogs”.
