KDOT to hold virtual public meeting on U.S. 83 Finney County project

The Kansas Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, to discuss the upcoming U.S. 83 project in Finney County. Participants must register for the meeting at https://zoom.us/s/97060158599.

The project will reconstruct approximately 12 miles of U.S. 83 on an offset alignment to address pavement issues, add passing lanes and reconfigure access to Southwind to improve safety.

The project also includes the following improvements:

  • Intersection improvements including dedicated left turn lanes at the U.S. 83 Business/U.S. 83 intersection;
  • Relocation of the north entrance to Southwind and closure to the south entrance to Southwind;
  • Controlled access along the corridor with turn lanes added at major intersections;
  • Right of way purchased for future infrastructure development as needed.

KDOT engineers and staff will present details of the project and will be available to answer questions.
