Beginning Monday, April 3, the Kansas Department of Transportation will begin detouring traffic on a temporary roadway known as a shoofly for construction of the K-15 bridge replacement, about 1.5 miles south of the Washington City limits.
A temporary traffic signal will direct one 12-foot lane of traffic at a reduced speed through construction via the shoofly. Due to the location of the lights, 15th Road east of K-15 will be closed.
King Construction Company Inc. of Hesston is the prime contractor and has scheduled this $2.8 million project to be completed in September 2023.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1.
