Mike Daniel, Highway Maintenance Supervisor for the Gage sub-area shop in Topeka, is celebrating 40 years of valued service with the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Daniel joined KDOT in January 1983 as an Equipment Operator I (EO I) in Atchison. He went on to receive several promotions, including EO II and III, and EO Specialist. In January 2003, Daniel was promoted to Highway Maintenance Supervisor for the Lawrence sub-area shop. He transferred to his current position in 2017.
In 2004, Daniel successfully completed a year-long course at the University of Kansas to become a Certified Public Manager – his proudest career accomplishment to date.
As the supervisor, Daniel oversees and coordinates maintenance work for his crew on approximately 320 miles of state highways in areas of Shawnee and Wabaunsee counties.
He and his wife, Cheryl, live near Ozawkie. They have four grown children: Nicole, David, Christopher and Krista, seven granddaughters, and another grandchild on the way.
