Petrie-Fitzgerald celebrates 40 years of state service

Sherry Petrie-Fitzgerald, Organizational Development Manager in the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Human Resources, has achieved a career milestone and is celebrating 40 years of valued service to the State of Kansas.

She started with the Kansas Department of Revenue in 1981, then in 2002, transferred to the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority. Petrie-Fitzgerald received a promotion to KDOT in 2007 in her current position where she has served since. She oversees all aspects of training and skill development of KDOT employees, and she also manages a team of developers and training data.

In 2023, Petrie-Fitzgerald received the 2023 Innovation Award for problem solving and continuous improvement for the Bureau of Human Resources. She is also a member of the National Transportation Training Directors and the State Training Action Team.

She and her husband, Michael, have five children, and they reside in Topeka.
