The Kansas Department of Transportation is hosting an open house for the U.S. 50/Meridian Road interchange improvements and bridge replacement project on Thursday, May 2. The public is invited to attend the open house anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Sand Creek Event Center, 1601 S. Anderson Ave., in Newton.
The KDOT project is in the preliminary design phase and includes replacement of the U.S. 50 bridge over Meridian Road and the BNSF Railway on the southwest side of Newton in Harvey County. Replacement of the existing bridge is necessary because the structure is nearing the end of its useful design life.
At the open house, attendees can learn about the project background and timeline and ask questions of KDOT staff and project team members. No formal presentation will be made.
For those unable to attend the open house in person, the project webpage will offer materials presented at the open house, as well as a portal to submit questions and comments.
Anyone who requires language translation or interpretation, special assistance or accommodations to attend the open house should contact Tim Potter at Tim.Potter@ks.gov or 620-727-2278 10 days before the open house date. Requests for a hard-copy version of meeting materials after the meeting can also be made to Tim Potter at Tim.Potter@ks.gov.
