An oversize load permit issued by the Kansas Department of Transportation to relocate an Evergy transformer will require lane closures, intermittent ramp closures and rolling stops on K-7, from Old 56 Highway to 75th Street in Johnson County, on Sunday, Jan. 28, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Travel delays of up to thirty minutes are expected as the transformer and carrier convoy travel along K-7 and infrastructure is moved in advance then reinstalled.
On Sunday, Jan. 28, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., the following traffic control will be in place:
- Northbound K-7 (Old 56 Highway to 75th Street) and southbound K-7 (75th Street to 83rd Street): mobile lane closures and rolling stops.
- Eastbound K-10 to northbound K-7 ramp, northbound K-7 to eastbound/westbound K-10 ramps); intermittent ramp closures and rolling stops.
Law enforcement escorts from the Lenexa Police Department and Olathe Police Department will assist the transformer carrier convoy and provide traffic control support as overhead sign trusses and traffic signals are moved.
Message boards have been placed in the area to alert motorists of upcoming interruptions to traffic. Van Dyke Bros. Inc., of Chandler, Minn., is the primary contractor for the transport.
