Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin bridge repair on K-61 in McPherson County. The bridge is at the east junction of K-61/K-153 near the city of McPherson.
During construction, the K-153 spur to eastbound K-61 will be closed, and traffic on K-61 will be reduced to one 15-foot lane with a reduced speed in the work zone.
Bridges Inc., of Newton, is the prime contractor for this $290,000 project and has scheduled the work to be completed in mid-November, weather permitting.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of highway construction projects across Kansas, go to www.KanDrive.gov or call 5-1-1.
