The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin Phase 2 of its bridge replacement project on K-99 in Wabaunsee County this week. The structure is approximately 2 miles south of Eskridge.
By the end of this week, traffic will begin utilizing the shoofly detour through the project area while the new bridge is constructed and other project work is completed.
Signing, barricades, cones and temporary pavement marking will be used to direct traffic through the area. The work zone will have a reduced speed limit of 35 mph.
This configuration is expected to be in place until May 2025, conditions permitting.
King Construction, of Hesston, is the prime contractor on the $3 million project.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of highway construction projects across Kansas, go to www.KanDrive.gov or call 5-1-1.
